As you are aware SparrowHawk Developments, the Economic Development arm of Peepeekisis Cree Nation, Has recently acquired Temple Garden Hotel & Spa.  They have also secured a deal with RRD Construction, a Saskatoon based construction firm, to begin a phased renovation of the hotel property.  RRD Construction is interested in hiring all interested Peepeekisis Cree Nation community members to work with them to complete the renovation project!

Job Summary:The Parent Mentor/COHI/FASD Worker reports to the administrative supervision of the Health Director. Clinical/Functional Supervision is provided by the Community Health Nurse. The parent Mentor Worker, in conjunction with the community team, has a close working relationship with the Maternal Child Health Program Coordinator from the FHQ Tribal Health. The Worker will be responsible for the following:

Duties: Parent Mentor: • To assist families with parental skills which will support them in raising healthy babies and young children in an environment of safety, growing and learning; • Support and promote the Maternal Child Health Program and work co-jointly with the Community Health Nurse; • Conduct Home visits as per individualized plan of care,produce case management supposts • Participate in training programs; • Complete required forms, charting and reporting requirements; • Maintain client confidentiality and be professional at all times; • Work with children up to the ages of 5; Purpose of COHI Aide Position: To prevent and control tooth decay in children aged 0 – 7 years and to set the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth. Accountable to Dental Therapist, Health Director Duties and Responsibilities of COHI Aide: • Distribute and retrieve COHI and medical history consents; • Maintain an updated Fluoride Varnish Program List; • Apply fluoride varnish to children enrolled in the COHI program (training is provided); • Delivers education sessions on dental health for prenatal clients, parents or caregivers of • children (new born to 7 years old); • Provides instruction on tooth brushing and general oral hygiene practices; • Visits parents/caregivers in homes; • Assist dental therapist with dental screening assessment form; • Keep an up-to-date list of COHI supplies and equipment and order supplies as needed; • Participate in quarterly teleconferences; • Completes forms and reports as required.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding the Cree Language and values an asset;
  • Grade 12 and /or Equivalent Requirements;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Efficient Organizational Skills;
  • Case management skills;
  • Experience and/or training on traditional parenting;
  • Experience working in an educational environment;
  • Team player;
  • Experience and understanding of the Maternal Child Program;
  • Must live a healthy lifestyle for 3 years;
  • Must possess a valid class 5 license and clear driver abstract;
  • Must provide a current CPIC and vulnerable sector check;
